Evidence of learning: In my LLN essay cover letter I directly discussed how the standards of English affected me:
“I was placed in ESL the minute I got into school, that took me away from learning any sort of grammar, and technicality’s when it came to writing in English. This led to my insecurities about writing in English, since I didn’t really know the proper structures of sentences, or where commos, semicolons, and periods should go. I gave up on trying to score well on anything that had to do with writing in English.”
In this I was explaining how much the view of English demented how much effort I put into my schoolwork as a child.

Paraphrase: Look at how different authors write and speakers present their grammar, rhetoric, syntax, etc…
Evidence of learning: As a discussion assignment we were asked to watch two TED talks and one of the videos was “3 Ways of Speaking English” by Jamila Lyiscott. This video in itself already has three ways someone speaks and writes, this was a way I explored multiple genres of English:

Evidence of learning: In class I was assigned a synthesis essay but before beginning to write it I needed to figure out what I was writing about. I was introduce to the “family tree” method where I was able to extend my ideas and become more specific on research.

Evidence of learning: As homework, I was assigned a worksheet that helped me practice my synthesis skills. In that worksheet I practiced my rhetorical skills by finding out what my purpose, audience, and context was:

Evidence of learning: I was assigned a translation 2 project after the synthesis essay; we had to create a visual argument without using emotions. I choose to create a comic strip to show the argument I created in my synthesis essay but in a visual way:
